That's How it Goes

-- Temple

INTRO :08

Everybody knows
This time of year
Their faces show
They live in fear.
Their daily grind
Is going up and down and in and out.
They wonder why
It's happening.
Their lack of faith
Is frightening.
But everybody knows
That's just how it goes.

Paul swaggers by.
He's laughing loud.
He's living large
And feeling proud.
His daily grind
Is going up and down and in and out.
Mike drives the bus;
He's in command.
He waves his gun
In his right hand
As he barks and crows.
That's just how it goes.

Though we can't talk or think or feel or write,
We wonder what it would be like
If we lived free....
Here in our house of cards, we say things like
"Shared Governance" --
Phrases that are meaningless.
I guess I should work harder and be quiet now.

I look ahead:
This will not last.
Those who oppress
Will be downcast.
The future wheel
Is spinning up and down and all around.
They're eating dust
And smoking rope.
They'll wonder why
They cannot cope
As life ebbs and flows.
That's just how it goes.

Though we can't talk or think or feel or write,
We wonder what it would be like
If we lived free....
Here in our house of cards, we say things like
"Shared Governance" --
Phrases that are meaningless.
I guess I should work harder and be quiet now.
